Yeah. Christmas was okay. Nothing special except I had some kind of allergy thing. Doped and napped between dad’s side at stepsister’s house and mom’s side at aunt’s house.

New Year’s Eve at a friend’s place. Should be cool.

Not a thing else to report. I’z boring. :-)

Rednecks, pffft

I was at my redneck uncle’s house for fambly shite and his younger son (also redneck) started ranting about Brokeback Mountain. He’d seen a preview for it and thought it looked good until Heath and Jake started cuddling. I thought he was gonna puke just remembering it.

Then my uncle said it was a disgrace to America. A DISGRACE!!

I just thought the whole thing was funny. Esp. the look on redneck uncle’s face when I told him it was a favorite for Oscar contention.

Stupid rednecks.

Not a hell of a whole lot going on over here.

Got a bit sneezy & drippy last night, so spent today doped up and sleeping. Should be okay by tomorrow.

Finally reading a Harry Potter book. Most of the way through the Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s entertaining. I’m kind of having trouble remembering what they all looked like when they were wee.

Once upon a time, my dad came home saying he’d bought us a computer. This had to have been in the late 80’s, when PC’s were “IBM compatibles” and Apple hadn’t yet fucked itself.

The family was excited and he went back to the car to get it.

It was a Commodore 64.

I laughed at him. He was really excited about it, and I laughed at him.

I still kinda feel bad about that.

I was reminded of that when I read this article about some Dutchman who bought the brand and is going to try to bring it back from the undead.

Good luck with that one, dude.

Finals and stuff.

Day 2: Business 101 and Refrigeration.

BA 101 wasn’t too hard. I’m really glad to be done with that worthess crap class. Sold the book immediately after. Finished the copper tubing project in Refrigeration and got my grade (A). The project wasn’t really graded, but it if passed a leak test we got some extra credit. Mine passed, somehow. The joins were all ugly as hell, I damaged it twice by overheating joins to where the pipe broke and the teacher had to tighten a fitting for me. I dunno if I got the extra credit. No way I deserved it.

Day 3: Refrigeration Electrical

I was sweating this one. There was a lot of tuff and as usual I didn’t start studying until a few hours before the test. I think I did pretty well, tho. I hope so, passing grade is 70%, on a 40 question test. Ay yi yi.\

Day 4: Math 65 (Algebra)
I would have had to really bomb this final to flunk the class and I never have to take another math class again!!! I’m excited about that.

And now, I’m done. Yay!!!

Main page update:
Internet/Drinking: Dodgeball is like a social network site, but worthwhile. See, it’s about drinking. :-) You register and set up a list of friends (which is the rub) then when you’re out somewhere you text Dodgeball and it texts all of your friends and any friend of friends within 10 blocks letting them know where you are. Then, they find you, and (this is the best part) you all drink!

Finals Week: Day 1

December 12th, 2005 No comments

Took my Intro to Facilities Maintenance final today. The teacher told us he’d be there by four or so, so I ended up finishing my final an hour before the final period even began.

The final was mostly about refrigeration and electricity. I’m taking classes on those specific subjects, so I didn’t really, um, read the chapters on them when they were assigned (no homework in this class). So when I finally read them yesterday it was bad news because there was a ton of troubleshooting material. So when I came in early to ask the teacher if the troubleshooting would be covered on the final.

“Then I’m ready.”

Wasn’t much sweat. There were 5 questions out of 40 that I wasn’t sure on, but that’s still 85%, not counting the 5 short answer questions. I’m sure I got 4 of them.

Tomorrow is BA 101 and what’s supposed to be my Refrigeration final, but we took that last week so we could finish up our tubing projects this week.

Wednesday is Refrigeration Electrical.
Thursday is Math.
Friday is freedom!!!!!

And then: How you know you’re a regular:
You enter a bar.
The bartender greets you.
The bartender doesn’t ask for an order.
10-15 minutes pass (hey, I’m not going to fight to give anyone my money) during which time the bartender walks past you a half dozen times.
You finally call the bartender’s name when he’s close.
He looks t you and says: ”Fuck you, why didn’t you yell at me?”
You get a free beer.

Jesus and Jesus!

The best Penny Arcade Jesus guest spot thus far.

And the other Jesus is Aslan, of course. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was good. I’ll definitely be seeing it again.

Aslan 0\/\/nz j00!

No more new math!!!

December 6th, 2005 No comments

I had my last real math class today. Thursday we’re reviewing for the final and then the final. But these are no sweat, as I think I might have detailed before. *peeks* Nope, I haven’t.

Basically, if I get a high D on the final, I’ll pull a C in the class. So, no sweat on the final. :-)

This is good, because I hate math. Math is concentrated human suffering and indignity. And I was unprepared. I took the precursor class the first time I went to PCC, which was 10 years ago. The first session of this math class I was lost. I couldn’t remember a damn thing, to the point where I asked the teacher if I was screwed (direct answer: yes). A jaunt with a tutor and I’ve been all over it ever since.

And I’m done! Yay!!!!

Fsck math, j0!
