Have any of you seen this? Run, don’t walk, no, don’t run, fly, sprint MOVE AS FAST AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN TO THIS WEBSITE!

You give it some favorite performers or songs and it programs a radio station for you. It’s the best user of the internet since free porn, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating on that. I put in “Counting Crows” and “My Morning Jacket” (I have none of the latter’s albums, I feel shitty about that, the situation must be addressed) and it’s already 90% accurate. I did get some Morrissey and Fleetwood Mac, but nothing’s perfect.

Why are you still looking at this? Go to Pandora!!

JOB!!!

This afternoon the General Manager at the Delta Park, Portland Elmer’s Restaurant (local chain) shook my hand and said ”Welcome to the team”.

Finally.

The kitchen manager did say that corporate would hafta check some stuff, but the GM said that had all been done when I went back with my Social Security and food handler’s cards. I dunno, but I told the kitchen dude about walking off the Spirit and he didn’t seem to think that was a problem.

It’s only minimum wage ($7.50/hr in Oregon) but dishwashers get tipped out so hopefully that’ll be enough. I know it will for the foreseeable future, I’m not moving out of mom’s any time soon.

Here’s the best part. My schedule (so far): Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8am-2:30pm. No nights, no weekends. So far. I couldn’t have asked for a better schedule. And kitchen dude was totally willing to work with me, b/c he was originally thinking Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8am-2:30pm. But I have a day class Thursday. And when he realized that I’d fudged in telling him I had ”mostly” night classes he was just ”hey now!” So feels pretty good so far.

It’s only 10 minutes on the light rail from school and only a 5-10 min. Walk from the nearest light rail stop.

Ohhhh, I hope this works out. I had tax paperwork from SIX employers this year. Also, I bought an iPod. I’m so weak!!

Stupid moralists

It looks like Oregon’s assisted suicide law is big news. It’s the lead item on the Times’ website.

One thing that’s not so clear in the reports (although the Times mentioned it in the International Herald Tribune) is that we voted on this twice. It was put on the ballot (referendum to you Europeans) and we passed it. Then the state legislature referred it back to the voters and it passed by a greater margin the second time.

So, fuck you Ashcroft.

*edit*

Here in Oregon, the issue was initially contentious, passed by a bare margin in 1994. But the more that people outside the state criticized the law, the more support it gained here. When it came up for a second referendum in 1997, it was upheld 60 to 40.

No more new math!!!

Filed under: Announcements — Doom @ 10:49 pm

I had my last real math class today. Thursday we’re reviewing for the final and then the final. But these are no sweat, as I think I might have detailed before. *peeks* Nope, I haven’t.

Basically, if I get a high D on the final, I’ll pull a C in the class. So, no sweat on the final. :-)

This is good, because I hate math. Math is concentrated human suffering and indignity. And I was unprepared. I took the precursor class the first time I went to PCC, which was 10 years ago. The first session of this math class I was lost. I couldn’t remember a damn thing, to the point where I asked the teacher if I was screwed (direct answer: yes). A jaunt with a tutor and I’ve been all over it ever since.

And I’m done! Yay!!!!

Fsck math, j0!
